Hi, I'm Allie (they/them)!
I'm a musician/audio engineer/producer in Austin, TX.
Some of my favorite musical elements are: incidental little vocal moments that can't be replicated on demand, cathartic waves of distortion that power-wash the inside of my entire being, and textural elements that help create a whole sonic environment out of empty air.
I was born in Austin and grew up in the small town of Liberty Hill, where I was known for being both a marching band nerd and a general nerd. Trombone was my first instrument, followed closely by electric guitar. I've since picked up acoustic guitar, piano, and bass, and I dabble with assorted other noisemakers.
I began recording music in high school, and the first song I remember recording was one that I'd written about Hamlet for my English class - recorded in my family's computer room (lol) with a little plastic external mic. Happy to say I've come a long way.
I graduated from Southwestern University with a B.A. in Music, focusing on theory, composition, and trombone performance. I moved back to Austin in 2015 to attend MediaTech Institute, where I learned about wrapping cables, selecting microphones, and the importance of DAW keyboard shortcuts. I interned at a couple of reputable local studios and have been working at Estuary since the summer of 2022. I'm an AVID Certified Pro Tools Operator (Music v11 and Post v10), and I work mostly in LUNA.
If you've been to an in-store at Waterloo Records in the past seven years, there's a good chance that I was behind the board - I've mixed well over 160 of them!
